Beautiful cotton cloths are the perfect alternative to the disposable synthetic dishcloths.
How it all began
Ultimately Ecovask was born as a result of unveiling our new kitchen to some German friends who were apparently a bit mortified by our manky, hole ridden disposable dishcloth hanging over the tap.
Next minute, we were couriered a life changing magnetic dishcloth holder to help keep our dishcloth out of sight.
That small act of honesty, set me on a trajectory trying to find less manky dishcloths. Which eventually came in the form of a Danish find in 2016 - finely knitted cotton cloths.
It was love at first try and we haven't looked back since!

More than just dishcloths
Our journey may have started with a mission of transforming the humble dishcloth, but our drive to tackle the everyday nuisances we live with such as;
- smelly, manky dishcloths,
- non-drying tea towels,
- guilt of using single use cotton pads and wipes,
- environmental impact of plastic loofahs,
- kitschy hand towel,
- ill-fitting microfibre hair towels...
have led us to the development of some of our best-selling products.

Ecovask products are made using the best quality certified organic yarns and are manufactured to our design by a company in India that ensures ethical working conditions. We bring them to New Zealand and package locally. If for whatever reason you’re not happy, return them within 14 days for a refund.

Over the years, your feedback has shaped our product range and we now manufacture different cloth options to suit hands of all ages, sizes and strengths.
While our original heavy-duty dishcloths remain our biggest seller, recent additions are fast becoming popular in their own right.
Great uses for our dishcloths
Wiping up spills
There’s nothing more annoying than going to mop up a spill just to find your cloth isn’t actually mopping it up. It’s just moving it around the surface!
Ecovask dishcloths are very (very) absorbent and soak up spills easily. Remember though, they’re not a sponge so you’ll have to squeeze them out more often.
Obviously cloths absorb more when they're dry, so it's a good idea to have a spare cloth or two in the drawer ready for use.
Washing dishes
Just use your knitted dishcloth as you would any other dishcloth. Their textured surface makes them ideal for wiping plates clean or greasy pans. (Just make sure you rinse then in hot soapy water after use and hang to dry in the sink or laundry).
Or stand by while you watch someone else do the dishes for you! (dream)
Cleaning appliances & bench tops
Whether you have Stone bench tops or stainless-steel surfaces we have you covered! A soaking wet cloth will always leave some residue so we recommend keeping a dry cloth aside that you can use for this purpose. Spray the surface with your favourite cleaner (although not bleach!) and wipe surface clean for the perfect finish.
Mopping up mucky eaters!
Got toddlers or young children who still wear more of their food than eat it? Our cloths are fantastic at mopping up the faces, hands and table-tops of enthusiastic eaters!

Timeline
2017
Local Markets
Started bringing in cloths from Europe and selling at local markets with teenage kids as a way to share this great product while teaching our kids about money and business.
2018
Fundraising mission kicked in
Our 14 yo son signed up to for trip to Nepal in partnership with his school and World Challenge (a youth expedition company). Kicked off 20 months of planning and fundraising so 'occasionally' selling at weekend markets became a weekly thing.
2020
Our manufacturing journey began
Nepal trip done. Strong customer base loving the products but markets no longer an option due to extended lockdowns and my consulting career on hold, I shifted focus to selling online.
This brought us retailer attention and the request to supply wholesale. With European supply hampered - our manufacturing journey began.
